Surgical dilators from TeDan Surgical Innovations are used to incrementally dilate the surgical site to allow for the insertion of retractor blades or tubes. The 8mm starting dilator is stainless steel and therefore radiopaque and easy to distinguish under fluoroscopy. Dilators 2-5 are aluminum and radiolucent under fluoroscopy. Dilation of the surgical site enlarges the incision only as necessary, and minimizing tissue trauma associated with open surgeries and expediting recovery time.
